THE FOLLOWING REVIEW APPLIES SOLELY TO THE STAFF/MANAGEMENT, and not to the coaches, most of whom are highly recommended. This negative review concerns a situation involving the cancellation of classes due to rainfall. For context: - A little over a year ago, when a session was canceled, I was notified by phone well in advance (in a situation where the rainfall wasn’t heavy and we could actually have expected to play), ✅️ - Less than two weeks ago, when a session was canceled, the information was first posted in the app’s session chat, then removed (which triggered an email notification), and a text message was sent 2.5 hours before the session, ✅️ - A few days ago, a class was also canceled 2.5 hours before it was scheduled to start; in this case, however, it was decided that no text message would be sent. ⚠️ And now we come to the main point: Saturday’s Americano (11 a.m.–1 p.m.), for which rain was forecast the night before the session. Three hours before the session, questions started popping up in the chat from other players asking if the tournament would be canceled (I, for one, couldn’t get through on the phone at 8:49 a.m.). It wasn’t until 9:34 a.m. (when some people, including me, might have been or were already on their way) that a message appeared in the class chat: “Hey, we’re canceling—the courts are flooded.” Did the pools of water really only appear then? The answer is probably obvious. I doubt the staff would have been on site at that hour, since other activities were scheduled on the courts earlier in the day. In line with the pattern described in the previous points: despite such late notice of the cancellation, no text message was sent; at 10:04 a.m., the class was removed from the schedule, and people who, for example, didn’t check their email or the app (because they were counting on the club to provide a reasonable form of communication in the event of a last-minute cancellation) might show up to play “on pools of water.” 🙃 In summary, the staff at Ahoj Padel seems to have absolutely no respect for their customers’ time or their other commitments/plans. Situations where rainfall is uncertain or unexpected are truly understandable, but in the case described above, the only problem seems to be sheer incompetence on the part of the owners or those responsible for customer communication.
